Advocacy & Government Relations Committee

WSCA Advocacy & Government Relations Committee is focused on advocating for school counselor interests at the local, state and national levels! This committee will look at building connections with key state organizations and agencies; creating partnerships for school counselors as well as creating resources for use at the local level.  Please join us as a committee member as we look to building our profession. Additional information about the work of this committee can be found on the WSCA Advocacy webpage.

Who should get involved?

Anyone with an interest in sharing the benefits of being a school counselor and how we make a difference in the lives of our students. We are looking for story tellers that can talk about how school counselors are leaders and essential in every school in Wisconsin. Help support the school counselors with your passion and interest in advocacy for the school counseling profession at a macro-level!

What can you expect to do as a member of the advocacy & government relations committee?

The Committee work will make regular connections with members through newsletter advocacy updates.  This team is also responsible for organizing the annual Afternoon on the Hill.  Occasional project work also occurs depending on advocacy response needs in the state. Committee members can expect to volunteer one to two hours per month with additional hours needed when planning Afternoon on the Hill.

When/where will committee meet?

Committee meetings and work will happen mainly online. Participation at Afternoon on the Hill is strongly encouraged.
