Hello Elementary Counselors! We hope you’re off to a great school year. Our position is unique because it includes so much more of the classroom dimension, as well as conducting groups, counseling individuals, conducting administrative tasks, and being a leader in our buildings and profession. The task of aligning our lesson and unit plans to academic, personal and social/emotional standards plus teaching great lessons that impact students is a challenge. We want to support you in it. The WSCA link is a great way to bounce around problems and solutions. We hope to continue to include materials and resources on this page that will be useful in your school counseling program. We also invite you to email or call with any questions you have in regard to starting your own counseling program, how to promote your role as a counselor, or with ideas of how WSCA can be on the cutting edge of assisting you and other counselors throughout the State be more effective. Elementary School Counselor Role

School counselors are professional educators with a mental health perspective who understand and respond to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population. As school counselors, our primary goals are to enhance student achievement, and we do this in a variety of ways inside and outside of the classroom.  School counseling services and our roles are determined by the educational, career, and personal/social developmental needs of our students.
The following services may be provided to all students:
